The Quantico Area Chapter (QAC) of the U.S. Naval Academy Alumni Association perpetuates friendships and associations formed by Chapter members through their common experiences and interests in the Naval Academy and the Naval Services. QAC promotes fraternity among Naval Academy alumni and fosters interests of our country, the Naval Services, and the Naval Academy. Activities are focused on bonding members of all classes and all generations in a common tradition of service, citizenship, fellowship, and mutual support. PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE Happy Easter everyone, I wanted to pass the word on what is going on for the next 3 months with the Quantico Alumni Chapter (QAC). Please read this entire email. Websites: Quantico Area Chapter (myUSNA) & Quantico Area Chapter (this website) Spring Events: 4/5/24 : TIME: 0700 Monthly Breakfast Speaker: Lieutenant Colonel Haagenson, XO, Wounded Warrior Regiment. LOCATION: Hampton Inn, Dumfries. 4/13/24 : TIME: 1300 Army/Navy Lacrosse Watch Party. LOCATION: 6 Bears & a Goat – 1140 International Parkway, Fredericksburg, VA 22406. 5/3/24 : TIME: 0700 Annual State of the Chapter Meeting. LOCATION: Hampton Inn, Dumfries. Note , this will not be our normal breakfast and I anticipate that we could be there as late as 0930 to cover all the QAC annual business. An agenda will be published prior to the event, and this meeting is open to all QAC members. Since we will be able to get breakfast, we will be collecting our normal $20 fee. End of May , Run to Honor (RTH). At the 4/5 breakfast, I would ask for a volunteer to host an in-person RTH. If I can not get a volunteer, we will explore a virtual option like we did during the pandemic. 6/7/24 : TIME: 0700 Monthly Breakfast Speaker: Donna Onwona, Public Affairs Specialist/Donor Recruiter, Armed Services Blood Program (ASBP) National Capital Region, Health Care Operations LOCATION: Hampton Inn, Dumfries. 2024-2025 Election QAC is looking for volunteers or nominees for chapter Vice President and Secretary. Per the bylaws we run the elections in May so we need to finalize nominations is the Membership Meeting on 5/3/24. The Secretary job includes writing the Shipmate articles, among other things. Starting this year (2024) USNAAA will publish only six issues. The other written work includes the Council meeting minutes, the annual Membership Meeting minutes, the Distinguished Chapter package and the Annual Operations Summary. In my opinion, the workload is very doable if the person gets organized quickly and stays on a schedule. The Secretary will also send the election results to USNAAA so USNAAA may update the masthead for our Shipmate articles.
